“The Peranakan Voices (TPV) is a group comprising working adult, semi-retirees and retirees, all participating on a voluntary basis. Well-organised, it is a convivial group with a strong focused working sub-committee. At public functions, TPV exudes high unfettered spirits, infectious with its unmistakable gaiety, accompanying colour and sound. More often than not, merry and always addicted to having a jolly good time, the TPV members invariably manage to inject the fun and laughter reminiscent of the swinging good times of long ago when television, computers, video games and all high-tech gadgets were non-existent.”
“Today, to round off an event, the TPV would usually lead the way in audience participation with their medley of singing-along sessions. Its final touch – off-stage, gyrating on the dance floor to the joget beat with whoever was present and swaying in a simple relaxed way, body, arms, and hips to the joget rhythm, essentially Malay in form and basically simple enough for starters.”
“The ever popular TPV, under the umbrella of The Peranakan Association Singapore, is a working group with a full annual calendar of events.
