The Peranakan Association’s Editorial team had an inspiring visit to the Asian Civilisations Museum, where they were guided by Senior Curator Jackie Yoong through the captivating exhibition, “Andrew Gn: Fashioning Singapore and the World.” Renowned for his couture-like creations merging Eastern and Western influences, Andrew Gn’s showcase featured 160 garments, including pieces worn by international celebrities and royalty.
The exhibition beautifully demonstrated how Gn’s designs skillfully blend modernity and tradition, incorporating vibrant Peranakan motifs, chinoiserie, and diverse artistic inspirations. Until 17th September 2023, visitors can immerse themselves in this enthralling journey of cultural traditions and hybrid identities at the Asian Civilisations Museum.
