Let’s Chakap Chakap with the President (Feb 2025)

Dear Nyonyas and Babas,

In this month’s video, I am joined by Baba Richard Tan and TPAS Head of Events Nyonya Stella Clare Wee.

We kickstart our 125th anniversary this year with a tok panjang dinner on 21 Feb, followed by a second tok panjang lunch on 10 May 2025, in conjunction with Mothers’ Day.

Nyonya Stella shared exciting updates on the upcoming events for March 2025. The month starts with TPAS presenting a special sale of curated Peranakan handicrafts, batiks, accessories, and Nyonya delicacies at the Peranakan Museum’s Armenian Street Party from 14 to 16 March. Baba Richard added that on 15 March at 7 p.m., TPAS will present In the Mood for Kebaya, a kebaya fashion show at the same Armenian Street Party, where we encourage everyone to come dressed in their finest kebayas and join the celebration.

On 22 March, we will hold a book session for young Anak Peranakans aged 9 to 12 (Primary 3 to Primary 6), in collaboration with Book Bar and writer Shawn Seah, focusing on the stories of our Baba pioneers. To round off the month, we have planned a dialogue session for young Peranakans at Rumah Kim Choo on 29 March from 2 to 4 p.m.
